On June 20th, we enjoyed a concert celebrating the friendship between the string orchestras of “La Societat Filharmònica Alteanense” and “La Barqueta,” as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of our rondalla (a traditional Spanish string ensemble).
This concert showcased the strong bonds that develop between musicians from different musical groups. What began as lessons taught in Benidorm by a teacher from Altea has blossomed into a deep friendship, with some musicians now playing regularly in both groups and others lending a hand when needed at concerts.
The concert began with a performance by the “La Societat Filharmònica Alteanense” orchestra, conducted by Raúl Mahiques Canet. This was followed by the “La Barqueta” orchestra, conducted by Jose Antonio Pastor Ruiz. Finally, the two orchestras joined together to play two pieces, each conducted by one of their respective conductors.
It was a wonderful and moving concert, where the musicians on stage were more than just colleagues—they were friends. We enjoyed great music and an even better atmosphere.
