XXIII Musical Exchange Concert Series

The Musical Exchange Campaign is a joint project involving the Federation of Musical Societies (FSMCV), the Folklore Federation (FFCV), the Choral Federation (FECOCOVA), the Federation of Plucked-String Orchestras and *Rondallas* (FORPPCV), and the Valencian Federation of *Dolçainers* and *Tabaleters* (FVDiT). Supported by the Generalitat Valenciana and the Institut Valencià de Cultura, the initiative features numerous exchange concerts performed by members of these federations across the Valencian region throughout the year.

This year, the “La Barqueta” Plucked-String Orchestra (OPP) carried out an exchange with the *Grup de Danses Almirant* from Valencia. This collaboration resulted in two joint concerts: one in Benidorm and the other in Valencia.

The first concert took place on September 13th in the Benidorm City Hall auditorium. First, the audience enjoyed a selection of traditional dances performed by the *Grup de Danses Almirant*, accompanied by the music of the *Rondalla* “Sò del Mareny.” Next, the OPP “La Barqueta” took the stage, presenting a repertoire that included *pasodobles*, *habaneras*, and popular songs adapted for the plucked-string orchestra. Taking advantage of the presence of Jose Antonio Esteban Lapeña—who arranged “En las Cuevas del Albaicín” by F. Collado (one of the pieces performed) as well as many other works—a brief tribute was held to recognize his magnificent work.

The second concert took place on the 20th of the same month in the garden of the *Arte Mayor de la Seda* (Silk Guild) complex in Valencia. On this occasion, the OPP “La Barqueta” performed first, followed by the *Grup de Danses Almirant*. A magnificent series of events for discovering the cultural and musical richness of our Valencian Community, bringing it closer to audiences of all kinds so they can enjoy it.
