Corpus

Another traditional activity in our community has been the Corpus Christi procession. In Benidorm, La Barqueta revived the tradition of the “paraes,” or altars, in 1985, where the procession paused and the Blessed Sacrament was displayed.

Traditionally, there were three along the route, which ran through Calle Mayor, Calle Alameda, Paseo de la Carretera, and Calle Santa Faz. The first stop revived was at Plaza de la Cruz, which was decorated with an artistic carpet of dyed sawdust depicting various scenes.

Later, others were installed on Paseo de la Carretera and Calle Santa Faz.

Today, the three stops remain, but they are decorated with flowers.
