Nativity scene

“La Barqueta” first organized its nativity scene in 1987

A deeply rooted popular tradition in our region was that of nativity scenes. To ensure this tradition wouldn’t be lost, La Barqueta organized its first nativity scene in 1987 in the Church of San Jaime.

A few years later, the limitations imposed by church hours on visitors led to a change of location. It was initially set up at the association’s headquarters in the Municipal Market, but space constraints prompted a subsequent move to the premises on Tomàs Ortuño Street, where, for years, it has received thousands of visits from Benidorm residents and tourists.

Currently, they continue to display a nativity scene in the Church of San Jaime and another at their headquarters. They also participate in the Three Kings’ Day parade, which marks the end of the Christmas season. They bring the Nativity scene to life.
