Rondalla

In 1986, La Barqueta formed a plucked string ensemble (rondalla) directed by Francesc Pérez Lapera and composed primarily of bandurrias, a musical instrument very common in other eras.

Its repertoire consists mainly of folk pieces, although it also includes classical works. The first performance took place on December 23, 1986. At its peak, it boasted 32 musicians and a good number of students, but these numbers have since dwindled.

Since 2000, it has participated in an agreement with the Alicante Provincial Council and the Federation of Rondallas, in which 28 rondallas from Alicante collaborate.

Members are obligated to perform in other towns and to receive visits from rondallas in other municipalities such as El Campello, Villajoyosa, Alcoy, Sella, San Juan, etc. Currently, the rondalla is directed by Jose Antonio Pastor Ruiz and remains very active.
